Psychopharmacology Taskforce

The Taskforce for Psychopharmacology studies and makes recommendations for the training of, and potential expansion of the scope of practice of licensed psychologists into the area of pharmacopsychology.  This is in support of this expansion of both training and practice as recommended by the American Psychological Association.

Taskforce members comprise: Dr. Bob Nevels (Chair), Dr. Eldridge Fleming (Co-Chair), and Members Dr. Charles Harris, Dr. Ena Knott-Scott, Dr. Priscilla Roth-Wall, Dr. Louis Masur, Dr. Ethel Hetrick, and as Advisors, Drs Katherine Nordal, and Samuel Gontkovsky.

Bob Nevels is a clinical and medical psychologist who is licensed in both clinical and counseling specialties in Tennessee and is a licensed psychologist in Mississippi.  He received a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from USM in 1983.  He is an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor who taught marriage and family therapy at Mississippi College as an adjunct instructor from 1989-2007.  Since 2004 he has taught introduction to psychopharmacology and theories of psychotherapy at JSU,  in the clinical doctoral program as Visiting Associate Professor he also teaches APA-required externship seminars as Externship co-Coordinator/Supervisor.  He has been in private practice since 1983.  He recently graduated from his second post-doctoral psychopharmacology training program, receiving the Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharamacology degree from Alliant University.  He is the staff consultant psychologist for University of Mississippi Hospitals and Clinics in Lexington, MS.

Eldridge E. Fleming, Ph.D., FPPR, FICPP Ph.D. U. of MS. 1975. Special studies in neuropsychology and completed PPR courses, and passed their national exam. Active in MPA since 1975.
Dr Fleming earned degrees from Mississippi College (B.A.), Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Missouri (M.Div.), Mississippi State University (M.A.), and the University of Mississippi (Ph.D., in Educational/Counseling Psychology).

He has been a Licensed Psychologist in Mississippi since September 1976. He was honored as a Fellow of the Mississippi Psychological Association, Fellow/Diplomate by the Prescribing Psychologists Register, Inc., and as a Fellow by the International College of Prescribing Psychologists. He served
as President of the Mississippi Psychological Association in 1996
